DEAR ISLANDER FAMILIES,

As we head down the final stretch of our inaugural season I want to take a moment to congratulate everyone on having a terrific season.   The 2013/2014 season has been a smashing success with 41 Islander teams competing in over a total of 2,000 plus games.   The fans have been cheering, the coaches yelling at the refs (probably a little too much) and the players competing which is what makes for great hockey.

On behalf of the Islander Autism Committee and Islander Directors, I am pleased to announce that the Islanders raised approximately $50,000 for autism this year.   I believe this is a great first step for our organization.

On Saturday Night, February 22nd, I presented a check to Autism Speaks for $40,000 on all of our behalf.   Give yourself and your supporters a big round of applause for all your efforts to this wonderful cause.

The Islanders have retained a portion of the funds to invest in enhancing our visibility with this cause at the rink which will be completed over the summer.   Thank you to everyone who did so much to help this be a great success.

Regards,
Richard Gallant

    IYHO's Philosophy

The Islander Organization exists to allow young people the opportunity to participate in a competitive league, to allow the players to be involved in an environment that focuses on skill development and team-based responsibilities with the intention of developing within the players a life long love for the game. Our goal is to develop all players on an equal basis based on teaching the game from different perspectives- individual offense and defense, team-based offense and defense and most importantly how players should win or lose with dignity and humility.

In either case, the opportunity to experience and develop " lessons in life " will be in the forefront of our coaches minds.
